Privacy Policy

yahnendgo.com Privacy and Terms

YahNé Ndgo, LLC collects only what each part of this site needs, keeps it no longer than it must, and never sells it. This covers everything on yahnendgo.com, including the Sawubona game, the daily check-ins, sign-ups, texts and the shop.

What we collect and how long we keep it

Most of what you share in the games is deleted on its own within days.

Part of the site

What we keep

How long

Group games

Your name, answers, guesses and an optional photo

Until 24 hours after the play date

One on ones

Both people’s names, answers, guesses and talk answers

7 days

Practice games (the tour)

Answers from you and anyone you invite

4 hours

Game link emails (a host’s game links, or a player’s own link back to their answers)

Your email, only to send the links (a player’s email also lets the host resend their link)

A host’s: not kept. A player’s: deleted with the game

Question suggestions

The question, and your name if you give it

Kept in the question bank

Feedback after a game

What you write, and your name if you give it. It goes only to the Sawubona Review Committee; other players never see it

Until the Review Committee removes it

Game counts

Monthly totals only: games started and finished, how many people joined, and how big games get. Never names, answers or photos

Kept as totals, after the games themselves are deleted

Words the portrait doesn’t know yet

Color, plant and insect words the portrait has no drawing for yet, with a count and the month last seen, so we know which drawings to add. Only the word, never who typed it

Until the word gets its drawing or the Review Committee clears the list

Daily check-ins

Kept only in your browser, unless you choose to keep them on the site under a private link

Your last 90 check-ins; deleted after 6 months without a check-in

Check-in photo and lock code

Stay on your device; never sent to the site

On your device until you remove them

Lock code recovery email

Your email, only to send a reset code, after you confirm it

Until you remove it; unconfirmed addresses are deleted after a day

Stay in touch sign-ups

Name, email, city, cell (only if you ask for texts), what you chose, and the wording you agreed to

Until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you

Shop orders

Name, shipping address, email, what you ordered; for custom items, your portrait, name, colors and quote

As long as tax and order records require

Photos in the games are shown only when your card is revealed. They are never posted to the site. Payment card details go straight to our payment processor; we never see or store them.

Coming soon

These parts of the site are still being built. This page will be updated before each one goes live.

  • Check-in rhythm: a count of the days in a row you check in, rest days and milestones. It’s worked out on your device from the check-ins you already have, so nothing new is collected.
  • Check-in circles: a few people (up to 12) who check in together. When you join a circle, the site keeps the circle’s name, the name you use in it, your sharing choice, and whether you checked in or rested each day. Your portrait is kept for a day only if you choose to share it. Your notes, the question of the day and your written answers are never sent to the circle. When you leave a circle, your records in it are deleted. A circle is deleted when its last member leaves or after 6 months without a check-in, and day-by-day records older than 13 months are dropped.

Emails and texts

We only email or text you about what you checked, and every box starts unchecked.

  • Emails go out for the choices you made: new versions of the game, events in your city, news from YahNé Ndgo. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Texts go only to people who checked “Text me” and agreed to receive them. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop, or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is never required to play or buy anything.
  • We save the exact words you agreed to and when, so we can always show what you chose.
  • We never sell, rent or share your contact information with anyone else for their own use.

Your device, cookies, and who helps us

The games remember things in your own browser so you can pick up where you left off.

  • Browser storage: your answers while you’re playing, your host link, the look you chose, and your check-ins (unless you keep them on the site). Clearing your browser removes them.
  • Cookies: the site uses WordPress’s standard cookies for people who log in.
  • Services that help us run the site now or in the future, each using your information only to do that job (some anticipated services are not yet activated. As service providers are established, this information will be updated with the name of the providers):
  • our web host, DreamHost, which stores the site and its data
  • an email service to send emails you asked for
  • a texting service to send texts you agreed to
  • a payment processor for shop orders
  • print-on-demand partners, The Game Crafter, to make and ship decks, custom cards and merch
  • Google Fonts, which supplies the lettering the games use; your browser asks Google for the fonts when a page loads

Children, your choices, and how to reach us

You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete what we keep about you.

  • Children. The site is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. Families can play together, with an adult starting the game. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, tell us and we’ll delete it.
  • Your choices. Unsubscribe from any email with its link, stop texts by replying STOP, delete check-ins kept on the site from the check-in page, or write to us to be removed from the list.
  • Contact. YahNé Ndgo, LLC, [admin@yahnendgo.com].
  • Changes. If this page changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so on this page and, for people on the list, by email. Last updated 10/27/2026.
